Wright was born in Preble County, Ohio April 20, 1857 and departed this life at the home of his son, Joe, in Deuel County, Nebraska on December 3, 1926 at the age of 69 years, 7 months, and 13 days. When about 3 years of age, Mr. Wright came with his parents in the year 1860 to North Manchester, Indiana to seek a home in the wilderness of new country. Here he grew to manhood and received his education and on September 15, 1882 he was married to Miss Geneva Mowrer. To this union were born five sons, namely Estel, who passed away in young manhood in the year 1909, Oscar and Joe who live in Deuel County, Nebraska, Wilmer of Schenectady, New York, and Claude J. of Aurora, Nebraska. In the spring of 1884, two years after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Wright moved to Aurora, Nebraska and settled on the farm south of town, where an old sod house was the only improvement and lived there for 33 years, leaving on it one of the finest homes in the community. There they reared their family, and in 1917 they moved to Deuel County where they have since resided. Early in life Mr. Wright united with the Christian Church of North Manchester, Indiana and on coming to Nebraska united with the Lysinger Presbyterian Church near his home. In later years he was not identified with any particular denomination but always tried to live true to the Lord in his daily life. He leaves to mourn besides his loving wife and four sons mentioned two brothers, namely M. D. Wright of Aurora and H. A. Wright of North Manchester, Indiana and 17 grandchildren besides a host of friends and neighbors both in Aurora and in the Chappel vicinity. Ledrew Wright, as he was familiarly known, was always a lover of home life, being devoted to his wife and sons, ever ready to do and sacrifice for their welfare. For several years, he was Sunday school superintendent at the Lysinger Church. As a neighbor he was above reproach, always ready to lend a helping hand for the needy. He was often called upon for advice and consultation from his sons and friends and was always anxious to do his best in an advisory way, which was always done in an honest and upright manner. This old world has surely profited by his labors, and a just reward awaits him at the Golden Shore. Services were held at the church in Chappel attended by many friends, and another here in the United Brethern Church. Transcribed from the "Aurora Republican", dated December 9, 1926
