Higby Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Wright died Tuesday, February 10, at the Beebe Retirement Home after a lingering illness of several years. The son of Ledrew and Geneva Mowrer Wright, he was born in Hamilton County on August 10, 1887. He was educated in the Aurora schools and attended the University of Nebraska. On December 8, 1909, he married Mabel Riecker, who passed away in 1946. They resided in York where Mr. Wright was employed in a hardware store. Later they moved to a farm near Aurora. After several years of farming, he served briefly as a clerk in the post office in Lincoln, and then returned to the farm near Aurora again. In 1934 he was appointed postmaster in Aurora, a post he held until he retired in 1954. In 1947 he married Linne Riecker. He was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Aurora and was active in the work of the church as well as in civic activities as long as his health would permit. Throughout his life he maintained a strong interest in sports and participated actively in baseball and golf. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, his parents, and a brother, Estel. Survivors include his wife, Linne; a son, Maurice, of Casper Wyoming; a daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. Ivan Stauffer) of Roswell, New Mexico; three brothers, Oscar and Joe of Chappell, and Wilmer of Schenectady, New York; five grandchildren and other relatives and close friends. Relatives who came to attend the Friday services for Claude J. Wright were Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Wright of Casper, Wyoming; Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Stauffer, Kent, Mike, and Rick of Roswell, New Mexico; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Wright, Joe Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Don Wright, and Bob Wright, all of the Chappell vicinity; Mrs. Clarence Couch of Sidney; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Miller of Manhattan, Kansas; Mrs. Nora Peterson, Mrs. George Froscheiser, and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Menzie, all of Lincoln; and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Jeffers of York. Also present were John Stauffer and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Inness of Meadow Grove, Miss Eunice Stauffer of Omaha, and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stauffer of York.
