He graduated from the Scotia Consolidated Schools in 1935 where he took an active part in school affairs, serving as class officer from time to time. Buffington, son of John Earl and Ollie Wetzel Buffington, was born at Horance, Nebraska on April 05, 1918, and passed away at Alliance, Nebraska, on February 25, 1942, at the age of 23 years, 10 months, and 20 days. He graduated from the Scotia Consolidated Schools in 1935 where he took an active part in school affairs, serving as class officer from time to time. In 1937 the family moved to Padroni, Colorado, and later to Alliance. Lee went to Alliance to make his home about two years ago. On July 5, 1941, he and Miss Minnie Hartman were married at Hyannis, Nebraska. Lee derived a full measure of enjoyment and happiness from his athletic endeavors, being a member of the football team in high school and playing much baseball. He was devoted to his wife, his parents, and relatives, all of whome mourn his untimely passing. His cheerful disposition endeared him to all with whom he came in contact. He was an industrious and ambitious young man and was employed with a railroad construction outfit until a short time before his death. Surviving besides his wife and parents, are two brothers, Dean and John, his grandparents, John Amos Buffington Sr. of Padroni, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. Nick Wetzel of Scotia, Nebraska, and many other relatives and friends. Pall Bearers were: Harold Johnson, Claude Johnson, Perry Cargill, Joe Murphy, Neville Cargill and Nova Wagner. Services where held at the Methodist Church of Scotia, NE. February 28, 1942 at 2 p.m. Reverend William J. Primrose, Presbyterian Minister of St. Paul. Songs: Rock of Ages, Beautiful Isle of Somewhere, Nearer My God to Thee.
