St. Paul's Lutheran Messanger May 11, 1941 AT REST Mrs. Folkelina Wilhelmine Schulz nee Folkerts was born at Bracke, Oldenburg, Germany on the 16th day of August 1868. On the 10th day of September of the same year she received the sacrament of holy baptism which made her a child of God and a member of his church. Having received a thorough course of religious instructions she was confirmed in the Ev. Lutheran Church at Golzwarden, March 18, 1883 by Rev. P. Griepenkerl. On Feb. 28, 1893 she left her home and country and came to the United States together with her parents, after all arrangements had been made by her brother Christ. The family arrived at Manson March 16, 1893. And there, in and near Manson, the departed spent the rest of her life. She was united in holy wedlock with Mr. Herman Schulz November 24, 1895; this union was blessed with six children of whom one preceded his parents in death. The family lived in town for a number of years, then they lived on a farm northeast of town for one year after which they returned to town. Later they moved to their own farm northwest of town where they lived until January 1936 when Mr. and Mrs. Schulz retired to their home in Manson. Mr. Schulz passed away July 11, 1936. Mrs. Schulz continued to live in her home until two years ago, when in failing health made it inadvisable for her to stay alone. She found a comfortable home and tender care at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Reinholz, all her children joining in making the remaining days of their mother as pleasant as possible. After a lingering illness, caused by heart trouble, she died peacefully last Saturday afternoon, May 3, a few minutes before 3:00 o'clock at the age of 72 years, 8 months and 17 days. The departed was a true Christian mother in every way. With her husband she did share the labors and burdens of the early days, and with motherly love she took care of the bodily and spiritual needs of her children. As a child of God she showed her love to God and her faith to her Savior in many ways, especially in her regular attendance at our services, even when the condition of her health made it very difficult for her to come, and in her loyal support of her church, for which she always had a kind word and an open hand. Especially did she prove her faith and love during the years of her illness. Committing herself entirely into the hands of God, she found peace in the sacrament of Christ's body and blood, and comfort in God's word, in some of old hymns she knew so well, and in prayer. Realizing that her days on earth were numbered, she was prepared when the Lord called her home last Saturday afternoon. She was ready to depart and be with Christ. Mrs. Schulz leaves to mourn her departure, 4 daughters, Mrs. Reka (Frederika) Rosenquist of Manson, Mrs. Dora (Theodora)Briggs of Gilmore City, Mrs. Minnie (Wilhemina) Reinholz of Manson, and Mrs. Helena Jones of Jamaica, Iowa, one son, Herman Jr. of Rockwell City, 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 4 sons-in-law, one daughter in law, 1 brother, 1 sister and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Harry Reinholz home and our church last Tuesday afternoon, May 6 and the body laid to rest in our cemetery. Gerdes, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Peters, Mr. and Mrs. John Behrens, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Janssen, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Kirchoff, Mr. amd Mrs. Louis Kirchoff, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Vetter, Mr. and Mrs. Will Blanchet, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bjork, and Miss Fanny Hoefing. May God comfort all who mourn.
