Lena graduated from Holmesville School on May 26, 1933. She was confirmed into the American Lutheran Church on May 20, 1934. Read More	Lena Johanna (Trauernicht) Johnson, 95 May 10, 1919 ~ October 23, 2014 Lena Johanna was born south of Beatrice on May 10, 1919 to Thomas and Anna (Frerichs) Trauernicht. Lena graduated from Holmesville School on May 26, 1933. She was confirmed into the American Lutheran Church on May 20, 1934. During World War II, Lena and her sisters enjoyed attending the local dances that were held for the soldiers who were home on leave. Lena married Everett Johnson on November 11, 1949. She spent her life being a loving wife and a doting mother. She worked a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime, including several years in the theater. An excellent seamstress, she enjoyed sewing clothes for her children. She was constantly searching out new recipes and creating new dishes for the family. She proudly watched her children move into their own successful careers, quickly followed by becoming a nurturing Grandmother. Spending time with her grandchildren was her biggest joy. Holiday dinners were a highlight for the entire family, as the house was filled with an assortment of colorful friends. The family could always count on her to provide them with many laughs. Sadly, dementia crept into her later years; but she never lost her sense of humor and the family continued to laugh with her as she relived her childhood memories. Lena Johanna (Trauernicht) Johnson, 95 years of age, of Beatrice, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice. Lena is survived by 2 daughters, Jean Johnson of Mesquite, Nevada, Ann Peck and husband Dave of Colorado Springs, Colorado; daughter-in-law, Connie Johnson of Lincoln; grandson, Brian Thornburg and wife Heather; 4 granddaughters, Kim, Lori, and Cindy Johnson, Macy Beckman; 5 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; sister, Grace Brinkhuis of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Everett on May 13, 1995; son, James in 2012; 3 brothers, Menne, Lammert, and Walter Trauernicht; and a sister, Fannie Knorr. Vistitation will be 9 am -5 pm Monday, Oct. 27, at Harman-Wright Mortuary in Beatrice, Nebraska. Graveside Services will be 11 am Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Evergreen Home Cemetery in Beatrice with Pastor David Bigley offering words of comfort. Memorials are suggested to the family.
