Members of the family have suggested memorial contributions to a fund to be established in the Presbyterian Manor. Mrs. Carnine was the former Lena Jones, daughter of Hugh and Katherine Jones. She was born May 24th, 1884, in Auburn, Shawnee County, attended Kansas State Normal School, now the Kansas State Teachers College, and was an assistant in the dramatics department of the school before her marriage on Oct. 5th, 1910, in Burlingame. After her marriage, Mrs. Carnine and her family lived in Burlingame, then on a farm north of Osage City. They moved in the early 1930's on a farm northeast of Emporia. Mrs. Carnine was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of Chapter CG of the P. E. O. Sisterhood and the Rinker Community Club and she had been active in a number of other organizations and community projects for many years. She was preceded in death by one son, John L., and she is survived by her husband, of the Presbyterian manor; one son, Harry J., of Paterson, N.J., and one daughter, Margaret E. Carnine, Kansas City, Mo.
