Lenore Shirley Craig was born January 10, 1929, at Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of Rose (Broderson) Craig. She attended Pocahontas High School. Pierce - age 85, of Pocahontas, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center in Pocahontas, Iowa. Lenore Shirley Craig was born January 10, 1929, at Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of Rose (Broderson) Craig. She attended Pocahontas High School. On September 4, 1948, Lenore married Ernest Pierce in Jackson, MN. The couple lived in Emmetsburg for several years before settling in Pocahontas. Lenore worked as a waitress at various restaurants in Pocahontas. She later worked as a secretary for the Pocahontas Lutheran Brotherhood and as a receptionist at the Powers Funeral Home. Ernie passed away in January of 1998 and Lenore continued to make her home in Pocahontas. In 2011, Lenore moved to Golden Meadows in Manson and recently to the Pocahontas Manor. Lenore was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church and the church circle. She was an avid reader, she enjoyed raising both flower and vegetable gardens and she was an amazing cook. Her family meant the world to her and she was especially proud of her children and grandchildren. Lenore is survived by her children, Mike (Gale) Pierce of Omaha, NE; Kevin (Cheryl) Pierce of Prior Lake, MN; Kathy (Don) Kirsch of Laurens and Jill (Kenny) Powers of Pocahontas; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, James Craig of Pocahontas; brother-in-law, Robert Gruver of Winterset and many nieces & nephews. Lenore was preceded in death by her mother; husband, Ernest; son, Jim; great-granddaughters Nikita Jo and Niki Jean Newhouse(who are buried between Lenore and Ernie); sister, LaVonne Gruver and sister-in-law, Mildred Craig.
