Read More	In Memory of Leo Elmer Walter Wedeking, age 93, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Arnold D. and Janie Marie (Poppe) Wedeking on May 14, 1926, on a farm north of Clarksville, Iowa. He received his education from a rural country school near his home and then attended the Clarksville High School. Leo was an avid farmer and had also worked at John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, for 12 years. On December 31, 1954, Leo was united in marriage with Dorothy Ann Bruns in Lancaster, Missouri. The couple made their home and farmed east of Clarksville for 44 years. Through the years Leo liked raising cattle and milking cows. He especially liked Oliver Tractors. Leo was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville where he had served on the Board of Trustees. He enjoyed going for coffee with his friends at Pete and Shorty’s. Leo very much enjoyed going fishing with Dorothy up to Minnesota, especially at Lake Pepin, and also spent many trips fishing in Canada as well. The couple enjoyed going to auctions and in the early years dancing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leo passed away Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville of natural causes. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Beva Jean Gilbert on July 16, 2002; two brothers Erwin and Vern Wedeking; and one sister, Bernice Jacobs. Leo is survived by his wife of 64 ½ years, Dorothy Wedeking of Clarksville; one daughter, Rhynonda (Douglas) Creger of Waverly; four grandchildren, Andrea (Kris) Lawson, Rebecca (Ryan) Southard, Skyler Gilbert and Tanner Gilbert; five great grandchildren, Keira, Bria, Alexandra, Jaxon and Maeghan; two sisters-in-law, Jean (Bill) Henning of Waverly and Betty (Dennis) Whitney of Tucson, AZ. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019, at Community United Methodist Church with burial at Lynwood Cemetery, both Clarksville, Iowa. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville, (319)278-4245, and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to Leo’s family. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.redman-schwartz.com
