Description	:	Leo was born April 7, 1882, in Fairfield County, Ohio, in Bern township. He moved to Nebraska with his family, when about two years of age, and he grew up near Julian Village in Nemaha county. Leo homesteaded at Camps Pass, MT, in 1917. It was then in Custer County, but about 1919 became Powder River County. He lived in a dugout and then built another. Read More	Leo was born April 7, 1882, in Fairfield County, Ohio, in Bern township. He moved to Nebraska with his family, when about two years of age, and he grew up near Julian Village in Nemaha county. Leo homesteaded at Camps Pass, MT, in 1917. It was then in Custer County, but about 1919 became Powder River County. He lived in a dugout and then built another. There was one juniper tree on the place, which is not unusual in that part of Montana. He had three wells on the place and the water was so full of alkali that not even the animals would drink it, forcing him to haul water by the barrel from his neighbor's well. He also broke horses and then would take them to Nebraska and sell them. He traveled by covered wagon and took about a month on the trip. Vern and Ervin South helped him break up ground for planting (less than half of it was arable). He married Lonie Florence Marley on January 17, 1928, in Omaha, NE. Lonie was born November 22, 1901. Leo met her in northwest Nebraska where he was selling Seventh Day Adventist books. She was a teacher in southwestern South Dakota. After their marriage. he and Lonie went back to the homestead and he worked for Vernon Lockwood a month or so while he built a new one-room log cabin with a door of boards, one window, and a dirt floor. Leo had to rebuild all of the fences, as the wire and the posts had been stolen in his absence. His brother, Charlie Green, sent him the money for that project. He also worked at hauling telephone poles and coal on contract. He sold the place for $100 in 1931 and went back to Nebraska, working as a laborer, part of the time on WPA. In the 1950s all that was left on the homestead was a large rock that he had used as a front porch. Leo and Lonie were both Seventh Day Adventists, looking forward to the return of their Savior in clouds of glory. He died November 25, 1942, in Omaha, NE. Aged: 59 Yrs, 7 Mos, 17 Days. Lonie died September 27, 1988. by Fred South 2011 Note: Gravestone says 1883-1942. Ohio birth record and Ephraim & Malinda Green Family Bible says his birth was 7 Apr 1882.
