Description	:	Leo J. Kubal, 74, of Elk Point, died Wednesday (Oct. 2, 1991) at a Sioux Falls hospital after a long illness. Services were held Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic church in Elk Point. The Rev. John Rasmussen officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery, Elk Point, under the direction of the Anderson funeral home in Elk Point, and with military rites. Mr. Kubal was born June 21, 1917, in Geddes, S.D., the son of Tom and Sophia (Dufek) Kubal. He attended school there. He was among the first draftees inducted into the army in 1941. He served through World War II in the European Theater, and was discharged in 1945. He married Cleo Morrison April 3, 1.948, at Yankton, S.D. They lived in the Elk Point area, where he farmed, and later worked as a gasoline transport driver. He retired in 1981. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church and Veterans of Foreign Wars post 915 of Elk Point. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Sioux City Local. Survivors include his wife; three sons and their wives, Tom and Nell, David and Sharon, all of New Caney, Texas, and Jeffrey and Theresa of Galveston, Texas; a brother and his wife, Vernon and Deloris of Sunny Vale, Calif.; three sisters and their husbands, Ruby and Frank Day of Sioux City, Maxine and William Mountgomery of Council Bluffs, Ia., and Donna and Wilfred Fennel of North Sioux City, S.D.; and eight grandchildren.
