OBITUARIES- LEO WILLIAM COBB Leo William Cobb was born at Holly, Oakland County, Michigan, the son of Charles and Margaret Merryweather Cobb, on September 16, 1889, and passed away at Pawnee County Memorial Hospital on Sunday January 1, 1967m having attained the age of 77 years, 3 months and 16 days. On December 14, 1914, he was united in marriage to Lucy E. Cobb who preceded him in death on October 15, 1952. To this union six children were born, five of whom survive their father; Laverne N. Cobb, Cresswell, Ore.; Reta M. Howard, Pawnee City, Frances L. Korber, DuBois; Howard L. Cobb, Holly, Mich., and Irene M. Droge, Pawnee City. A son died in infancy. There are 14 grandchildren who survive and one granddaughter died in infancy. Two sisters, Mary Shuttleworth and Florence Cobb of Holly, Mich., survive. His parents and one brother preceded him in death. As a youth he attended the Methodist Church in Holly and later professed his faith in the Lord. A Past Noble Grand of the I. O. O. F. he had been a member since 1925, when he joined the Greenwood, Nebr. Lodge, transferring to the Pawnee Lodge in 1935. He served on the City Council for six years and the Weed Control Commission for one year. A farmer in Lancaster County, he moved to Pawnee County in 1929 where he engaged in farming, soil conservation work and cattle feeding where he could enjoy nature and the soil. He was a wonderful father and loving grandfather, always wanting his grandchildren with him. He was always thoughtful of others and ready to lend a helping hand. Funeral services were held Jan. 4, 1967 at the Wherry Brothers Mortuary with Rev. N. E. Hamilton officiating. Pallbearers were Clyde McKee, Merton Johnson, Edward Bausch, Walter Stewart, Willis Loch and Morris Snyder. Flower ladies were Mrs. Leo Hunzeker and Mrs. Clifford Brown. Music was furnished by Mrs. Richard Turnbull and Mrs. Byford Metzger accompanied by Mrs. Ross Thiemann. Interment was in the Pawnee City Cemetery.
