Taylor (Shorty) in 1991; a sister Edna Bickford and 6 brothers Marvin, George, Elmer, Earl, Fred and Robert Dirks. Leona was born January 30, 1923 in Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henry and Helena Neunabar Dirks. She was baptized at Wayne Zion and Confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Olin, Iowa. She completed high school in Anamosa in 1941. On October 9, 1942 Leona and Clifford Taylor were united in marriage at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Then she went to work at Reliance Shirt Factory, the Produce at Monticello and a cook at the Nook restaurant in Anamosa. She retired after being a cook at the Anamosa Care Center for 17 years. She will be dearly missed by those closest to her. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Anamosa Care Center.
