Burial will be in Morgan Township Cemetery, Schleswig, Iowa. Leona Emma Mary Hamann was born June 13, 1908, in Crawford County, the daughter of William and Elenora (Moltmann) Hamann. She was baptized at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig and confirmed on March 25, 1923, by Rev W. R. Wetzeler. She received her formal education at a rural school near her home, where she received her 8th grade diploma. She married Edward Richard Lorenz Ehler on February 19, 1929, in Storm Lake. The couple made their home in Schleswig. She was employed as a receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. H. D. Jones and Dr. M. U. Broers in Schleswig and also for Dr. Richard Johnson in Denison. Edward preceded her in death on May 21, 1950. She continued to live in Schleswig and worked for Dr. Broers, until she retired in 1988. She moved to Parkston, South Dakota in December of 1997 and later became a resident of Avera Bormann Manor. She was a life long member of the United Church of Christ in Schleswig and was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting covers for coat hangers as gifts to others. Surviving are one son, Edward (Rheta) Ehler of Parkston, SD; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Ann Wallace of Galva; one brother, William Hamann of Apache Junction, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant granddaughter, Mary Sue Ehler, two sisters, Amelia and Amanda Hamann and one brother, Albert Hamann. Huebner & Sons Funeral Home
