Description	:	Leona F Miller, 84, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo, formerly of La Porte City and Dumont died Thursday, Jan. 1, from complications of diabetes. She was born Oct in Waterloo, daughter of Alfred and Josephine Siebel Bedard. She mar- ried Arnold L. Miller on Aug. at St Mary's of Mount Carmel, Eagle Center. He died in September 1987. Read More	Leona F Miller, 84, of Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo, formerly of La Porte City and Dumont died Thursday, Jan. 1, from complications of diabetes. She was born Oct in Waterloo, daughter of Alfred and Josephine Siebel Bedard. She mar- ried Arnold L. Miller on Aug. at St Mary's of Mount Carmel, Eagle Center. He died in September 1987. Mrs. Miller and her husband were owners of a station in Dumont for 10 years, then managed the La Porte City Golf Club for 10 years. She was a cook for La Porte City Schools from 1973 until retiring in 1987. She was active in Sacred Heart Church. Rosary Society-lay minis- ter and BPW; Jesse Wasson Award winner; Navy Mothers; and won the Governor's Award for Volunteerism. She was part of the Ravenwood Choir and Senior Citizens Old Timers Band and received a community play acting award from Gov. Terry Branstad; she also wrote weekly recipe and comment columns, "My Cup of Tea" and for the La Porte City Progess Review for many years. Survivors include: two sons, Larry (Patty) and Nick both of Porte City; a daughter, Joanne (Tom) Gorton of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Bean-ice Thompson of Waterloo and Mary Neubauer of Marysville, Wash. Preceded in death by: a daughter, Nancy Ehr; two brothers, Joe and John Bedard; and three sisters. Melinda Decker, Kathleen Brandt and Alfreda Wirtz. Services: a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church, with burial in West View Cemetery, both in Porte City. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Huisman Funeral Home, La Porte City with a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Memorials: may be diluted to the church or La Porte City Senior Center.
