Description	:	Leona Mabel Rust was one of seven children born to the union of Clarence R. (sic) Jones and Martha Christina (Holmes). She was born on a farm near Verona, Nebraska on September 8, 1897. Leona love Nebraska, spending her entire life there. She lived in this Clay Center, Nelson and Oak area for 33 years; two years in Hastings and 58 years in Superior until March 1986 when she moved to the Nelson Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska. Read More	Leona Mabel Rust was one of seven children born to the union of Clarence R. (sic) Jones and Martha Christina (Holmes). She was born on a farm near Verona, Nebraska on September 8, 1897. Leona love Nebraska, spending her entire life there. She lived in this Clay Center, Nelson and Oak area for 33 years; two years in Hastings and 58 years in Superior until March 1986 when she moved to the Nelson Good Samaritan Center in Nelson, Nebraska. Leona was baptized at the First Christian Church in Verona, Nebraska. Leona married Roy James Rust and they were blessed with seven children. Leona was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, gardening, working with plants, and reading. Leona passed away on May 24, 1991, from her residence in the Nelson Good Samaritan Center at the age of 93 years, eight months, and 16 days. Leona was preceded in death by her husband Roy James Rust on August 10, 1957; her parents; two sons, Homer and Roy Jr.; one brother Raymond Jones; and four sisters, Fern Dahlke, Bernice Ely, Pearl Strolz, and Myrtle Statz. Left to mourn her passing are her sister, Bessie Bermaster of Geneva, Nebraska; three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Hazel) Stone, of Superior, Nebraska, Mrs. Dale (Kay) Beck of Vancouver, Washington, and Betty Frear of Lincoln, Nebraska; two sons, Lloyd and his wife Dorothy of Superior, Nebraska, and Raymond of Lincoln, Nebraska as well as 24 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren, for great great grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 28, 1991, at 10:00 a.m. from the Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior Rev. Jerry Heydenberk officiating. Musicians work Carol Shambaugh, soloist, singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace' with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Casket bearers were LaVern Bohling, Larry Langer, Leslie Svoboda, Donald Duncan, Randy Alexander, and Clyde Waddle. Honorary pallbearers were David Rust, James Rust, John Russ, and Scott Rust. The burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery near Superior. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, June 6, 1991; pg. 6
