Born November 10, 1909 at Hoxie Kansas, he was the son of Charles Elmer and Eva Stepp Weaver. He lived in Van Buren County most of his life. Read More	-BIRMINGHAM- Leonard J "Polk" Weaver, 96, of Birmingham died at 8:50 pm Friday May 27, 2006 at the Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield. Born November 10, 1909 at Hoxie Kansas, he was the son of Charles Elmer and Eva Stepp Weaver. He lived in Van Buren County most of his life. He grew up in the Stockport community and lived all his adult life in Birmingham. He married Violet Black in 1929. Leonard married Helen Irene Pickerel on January 23, 1935 in Fairfield. She preceded him in death on March 23, 1994. Polk had farmed in his younger years, worked in paving and in the factoryat Dexter Company in Fairfield and had wroked for the C. B. & Q. and Rock Island railroad. He was the custodian at the Birmingham school for 28 years before his retirement. Decased family members include his wife, his parents, son Harry Charles Weaver, four brothers Rex, Fred, and Jim Weaver; three sisters Belle Simpkins, Gertie Giberson, and Virgie Kirby. Surviving are his grand son Jerry Hil of Del Ray, California and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be a 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham with Pastor Phil Campbell officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Hill cemetery at Birmingham. Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday until 7 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Memorials have been established to the Birmingham Fire Department or to the Birmingham Public Library. Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangments.
