Alvin Smith, pastor, officiated Burial was in the Enterprise Cemetery Pallbearers were Larry Oregon, Clifford Erb, Dwaine Risinger, Thomas Risinger, Lowell Peitzmeier and Donald Wallers. __________________________________ Orchard News Friday, September 17, 1965 Reed Risinger Succumbs in Creighton Hospital Leonard Reed Risinger, the son of Leonard Abraham Risinger and Emmire Jane Beggs Risinger was born October 31, 1888 in Dawes County near Chadron, Nebr. where he was baptized in the Methodist faith. He lived his childhood in the Chadron community until he was 14 years old. He then moved with his parents to the Creighton and Winnetoon vicinities and later to the Walnut, Nebr. community where he became a member of the United Brethren Church. He attended a session of school at Wayne, Nebraska Normal School. On October 15, 1907, he was united in marriage to Velma Euphena Butterfield. To this union thirteen children were born; a son and a daughter died in infancy, another son, Arnold and a daughter, Blanche also preceded him in death. Reed was a devoted husband and a loving father at all times. He strived to raise his family to be good citizens not only by his words but by his every way of life. Reed had been blessed with good health all his life and was doing farm duties when he was overcome by a heart attack September 9. He was immediately taken to the hospital at Creigthon, but medical care was of no avail and he was called to rest at 2 A.M. September 10. He had been an active member in community affairs, being a school board member for many years; a member of the P.T.A. and aided in every capacity in the education of his children. For several years he was a Star Mail-Carrier. His parents and 3 sisters; Edna, Florence and Olive preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn- his wife Velma; his chldren Mrs. Bernard Walters (Mildred) of Brighton, Colo., Leonard of Orchard, Mrs. Fritz Backer (Marie) of Bloomfield, Mrs. Arthur Erb (Agnes) of Orchard, Franklin of Brunswick, Mrs. Lawrence Oregon (Reba) of Omaha, Joyce at the home place, Rex of Center and Rodger of Bloomfield. Two sisters Alice Risinger and Mrs. Cecil Allen both of Orchard; thirty grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren plus many friends and neighbors. Funeral services for Leonard Reed Risnger were held at the Orchard Evangelical United Brethern Church Monday at 10 a.m. with Alvin H. Smith Pastor, officiatting. Music of Comfort was provided by the Strope family. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased; Dwaine Risinger, Thomas Risinger, Lowell Peitzmeier and Donald Walters. Granddaughters, Shirley Erb, Barbara Peitzmeier, Sherrye Honaker and Barbara Oregon were flower attendants. Interment was in the Enterprise Cemetery north of Orchard. Arrangements were in charge of Hengstler's of Creighton.
