Description	:	In 1997, Leonard's granddaughter, Velva Louise (Elston) Ashburn, told the story of how Leonard died. She said he was in a land dispute with his son-in-law and was murdered by his son-in-law Sidney Elston. He stomped Leonard to death. Leonard provided an inheritance in his will for both daughters. Ida died before Sidney, however. Leonard changed his will, leaving the entire inheritance to the daughter still living. When Sidney learned of the new will, he went into a rage and murdered his father-in-law. Sidney was never arrested, and Leonard never received justice.
