Description	:	Leone G. Meents, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 1998, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings. Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Rosemont at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Bill Caughey officiating. Burial was at the Blue Hill Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Merten-Butler Mortuary of Blue Hill, was in charge of arrangements. Leone was borne on a farm south of Lawrence, Neb., to Adam and Mary Barfknecht Troudt on May 31, 1912. Leone was borne on a farm south of Lawrence, Neb., to Adam and Mary Barfknecht Troudt on May 31, 1912. She attended school at Mr. Clare, Neb., from the first through tenth grade, except for two years at Parochial School. After her confirmation she returned to Mr. Clare School, later graduation from Nelson High School. She taught school for three years, tow in Parochial School and one year in a Webster County Public School On August 22, 1934, she was married to Henry Meents at Zion Luther Church southwest of Lawrence, Neb. Due to the death of their son and failing health of her husband, they retired and moved into Blue Hill in 1970. Her husband died February 2, 1984. She was a member of Zion, Salem and Calvary Lutheran Churches, and had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a member of L.W. M. L., the church choir, Ladies Quartet, and Community Clubs and rganization. She is survived by granddaughter, Melissa and husband John Turner, Nichole Schutte, Amy and Brad Edgar, Ben Schutte. Daughter-in-law Nancy and husband Ron Schutte, sister-in-law Elsie Smith, other relatives and firneds.
