Graveside service are 3 p.m. Friday at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha. Vistiation is 2 - 5 p.m. Thursday at McKown Funeral Home Chapel of Columbus and after 6 p.m.at the church and 8-9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral chapel. The wake service is 7 p.m. Thursday at the church. Mr. Hanus was born Sept. 6, 1908, in Omaha to Leo and Mary (Mach) Hanus. He attended schools in Omaha and in Saunders and Butler counties. He married Kristine Polak, Feb. 6, 1934, in Brainard. He farmed in Butler and Platte counties from 1934 - 64. Upon retirement, he moved to Omaha and worked as a security guard for Wells Fargo. He moved to Columbus in 1972 and became a security guard during the construction of the Holiday Inn, now the New World Inn, until retirement in 1978. He was a member of the church, Knights of Columbus, joined the 3rd Degree Council 9884 and 4th Degree Assembly 2291, both in TX and was a member a 60 year member of Catholic Workman Branch 16 of Brainard. Survivors include his wife; four daughters; Sister Josita Hanus of Omaha; Dorthy(John P) Hain of Downingtown, PA, Marilyn (Robert) Haerr of Terra Huate, ID, and Loretta (Dennis)Masur, of Warsaw, ID, four sons; Alfred (Rita) of Columbus; Archbishop Jerome of Dubuque, IA, Leo (Lorraine) of Lewisville, TX, and Ernest (Robin) of Omaha;one brother, Joseph of David City; four sisters; Mary Steager, Emily Hilger and Ludy Birkel, all of David City, and Sister Marietta of Milwaukee, WI; one brother-in-law, Sylvester Hilger of David City; four sister-in-laws, Genevieve of David City, Sister Loretta Polak of Omaha, Besse Polak of Cresco and Mary Polak of Denver; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and John; one sister, Anne Morbach; and a daughter-in-law, two grandsons; and his parents.
