Mr. Plath had been a farmer and a plumber before his retirement. He came to the United States with his father in 1867 at the age of 12. They lived in Passaic, N. Read More	Fremont (Nebraska) Tribune December 1948 Leopold Plath, 93, 9f 1049 North Main street, died Wednesday at a local hospital. Mr. Plath had been a farmer and a plumber before his retirement. He came to the United States with his father in 1867 at the age of 12. They lived in Passaic, N. J., until 1881 when Leopold moved to Columbus. In 1883, he married Minnie Phillips, first white child born in Platte county (? not verified). Mrs. Plath died in 1940. Mr. Plath moved to Fremont in 1938 to make his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Plath. He was a member of the Sons of Herman at Columbus. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. J. Roy Carter of Norfolk; a son, Fred of Fremont; two sisters, Mrs. Hannah Brunken and Mrs. Mary Kusant of Columbus. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the chapel of the Fred Bader funeral home with Rev. Frederick Muller officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park cemetery (Fremont, Nebraska). --------------------------------------- Note: Johann Leopold Plath was born 23 June 1855 in Ratzebuhr, Pommern, Germany. At that time that area was under Prussian/German control but later it became part of Poland and is the same as "Okonek, Poland". ------------- Funeral home for the burial was Bader Funeral Home of Fremont. Cause of death was given as "hemmorrhage".
