Sternberg, 78, was born December 5, 1937 at on a farm north of Cordova to Hugo and Emma (Fischer) Sternberg, the youngest of five children and passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his home in Cordova, surrounded by his family. As a young boy he attended Seward County School District 62 and later attended Beaver Crossing Public School. On July 29, 1962, Leroy was united in marriage to Carol Finke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cordova and to this union two children, Russell and Sheila were born. Sternberg, 78, was born December 5, 1937 at on a farm north of Cordova to Hugo and Emma (Fischer) Sternberg, the youngest of five children and passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his home in Cordova, surrounded by his family. As a young boy he attended Seward County School District 62 and later attended Beaver Crossing Public School. On July 29, 1962, Leroy was united in marriage to Carol Finke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cordova and to this union two children, Russell and Sheila were born. Together they made their home in the Cordova area where Leroy farmed with his family and also drove for Noler Trucking. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, serving faithfully in many ways. He also was a member of the Zastrow Cemetery Board, Cordova, SYA Tractor Club, Utica. Leroy enjoyed working with antique tractors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by: his wife, Carol, Cordova; daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Sheila and Robert Ellis; daughter-in-law, Sheila K. Sternberg; four grandchildren, Aleishia and Racheal Sternberg, Kendall and Blake Ellis; sisters and brother-in-law, Mildred Wiemer, Lorraine and Willard Zastrow; sisters-in-law, Mary Scheer, Ann Vogt, Jeanne Finke; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Leroy was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Russell in 2009; brothers, Elmer and Lloyd; brothers-in-law, Raymond Wiemer, Gary Vogt. Funeral Service on Friday, April 15, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cordova with Rev. Brian Tuma officiating. Interment in Zastrow Cemetery.
