He attended St. Edward Public Schools where he graduated with the class of 1962. After graduation, he attended Colorado State College (now the University of Northern Colorado) and received his teaching degree. Leroy married Vicki Hash in 1965. To this union one daughter, Wendy, was born. He married Sandra Strain September 1, 1979. To this union, three children were born. A son, Aaron, and two daughters, Roxann and Shanna. He worked at Dale Electronics for eight years. He taught shop and driver's education for the Petersburg Public Schools and one year and the Albion Public Schools for seven years. He was the librarian at Fullerton Public Schools for 13 years and the librarian for Humphrey St. Francis Schools for six years. In his retirement, he cared for his mother, Rose, until her death in 2005. February 14, 2009, he married Bonnie (James-Peck) Niemann. They lived in Missouri for three years and within the last year moved to Penrose, Colorado. He loved his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed doing things outside He loved to take walks by the river, enjoyed listening to live music and took many, many pictures of his travel along the way. He was always very busy and never like to sit still for very long. He was full of laughter, told many stories and loved life. Survivors include his daughter, Wendy Ohnoutka and her husband, Dave, of Lincoln; son, Aaron Niemann and his wife, Penny, of St. Edward; daughters, Roxann Zmanenacek and her husband, Darren, of Omaha and Shanna Tworek and her husband, Bryan, of Genoa; his wife Bonnie Niemann of Penrose, Colorado; brother, Jewell Niemann and his wife, Karen, of St. Edward; sister, Marlene Crowe and her husband, Cecil of Pueblo, Colorado; his stepchildren, his grandchildren and step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two infant daughters; and his second wife, Sandra Niemann. Services were held Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Edward Community building. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in St. Edward.
