He was born Nov. 4, 1923, at Bern, the son of William and Martha Bieri Marti. He was graduated rom Bern High School in 1943, and served in the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of Charles Fankhauser Post No. 326 of the American Legion, both at Bern. He was a former member of the board of directors of the Rural Fire District at Bern. He was married to Mavis Ehrsam Sept. 1, 1948. She survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Sharon Duryes, Seneca, and Linda Marti, Russell; a brother, Lester Marti, Bern; three sisters, Irene Steit and Mary Ann Brockhoff, both of Fairview and Wilma Marti, Sabetha; and two grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Bern. Burial will be in Bern Cemetery, with military graveside services conducted by Charles Fankhauser Post No. 326 of the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist church at Bern. Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha is in charge of arrangements.
