Read More	LEROY SMITH, 78, DIES HAD LIVED HERE MANY YEARS LeRoy Smith, 78, long time resident of Villisca, died Sunday at 11:15 p.m. at the home of his son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Smith on West Eighth Street. His death resulted form old age complications. Mr. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, was born in Illinois February 22, 1858. When a boy he accompanied his parents in a covered wagon to Jefferson, Green County, Iowa, where he lived except for a few years spent in Missouri until 38 years ago when he moved to Villisca. For many years he was engaged in the barbering business here. He was married to Miss Ella Spargur in Villisca, to which union were born eleven children. Three children and the mother preceded Mr. Smith in death. He is survived by seven sons and one daughter who are Mrs. Gertrude Simms, Falls City, Nebraska, Frank, Ralston, Iowa; Harry, Wenatchee, Washington, John and Ed, Villisca; Charles, Lincoln, Nebraska, William, Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Gordon, Falls City, Nebraska, all of whom attended the funeral service, except Harry. Funeral services were held Wednesday, at 2 p.m at the Wolfe Funeral Parlor, conducted by the Rev. W. F. Clayburg, pastor of the Methodist Church in Villisca. The music was by Mrs. Harry Tyler and Mrs. Albert F. Davie, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. J. L. Wheeler and the pall bearers were Howard Wolfe, Frank Hale, Phil Moyer, Joe Ankeny, Ralph Archer, and Orville Hammel. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery.
