Funeral services were Monday at 9:30 AM at Metcalf Funeral Home in Lincoln. The Rev. Melvin Tassler officiated. Graveside services were Monday a 1:30 PM at the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach with Military Rites by the Ray Mapes American Legion Post No. 236. Pallbearers were James Cloud, Robert Bayless, Greg Berney, Michael Nelson, Rusty Neuquist and Allan Todd. Mr. Bayless was born November 1, 1925 in Lincoln the son of Roy and Hazel Bayless. On November 2, 1946 he married Dorothy Berney at Marysville, Kansas, They lived at 20600 W. Dodge, Elkhorn. He was a hostler for the PIE Transportation Co. Mr. Bayless was a member of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of Local 554 of the Teamsters Union and was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of VFW Post No. 131 in Lincoln. Survivors include his widow; two sons, Richard of Prineville, Oregon, Daniel of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a brother Melvin of Oregon City, Oregon and two sisters, Mrs. Helen Cloud of Grand Island and Mrs. Darrell (Gladys) Payne of Prineville, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, two infant daughters and a sister.
