Leslie Allen, 78, died suddenly Friday afternoon at the Enloe Hospital although he had been ill for a week, his death was not expected. He was born in Chico and for many years was employed by the Diamond Match Company. Later he worked for a number of years as a blacksmith in chico. Fifteen years ago he moved to Alameda, where he lived until the death of his brother, Albert Allen a year and a half ago. He had lived here since. "For many years Allen was employed at Gages Ford Garage, the Mission Garage and Bowman's Ice Company. "His wife Elizabeth preceded him in death two years ago. Surviving are a son, Zeno Allen of San Francisco and a step-daughter, Love Dunbar of Alameda, and the following brothers and sisters: Pearl Allen of Hollywood, Arden Allen of San Francisco, Kenneth Allen of Oakland and Mrs. W.J. Bowman of Chico. He was the brother of the late Dr. Nellie Allen of Chico, and a son of the late Albert Allen. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Brusie Funeral Home." ~~~ Birth and death dates and locations, mother's maiden name Whitcomb, from California Death Index Records. 78-year-old Leslie Allen was interred, per the Chico Cemetery Association Records, in the plot noted, on July 15, 1946.
