Leslie was born April 7, 1922 at Alma, Nebraska the ninth of ten children born to Newton Frank and Anna Ellen (James) Potter. Leslie was baptized at the First Christian Church, Alma, Nebraska. Read More	Leslie Eugene Potter, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital, Franklin, Nebraska. Leslie was born April 7, 1922 at Alma, Nebraska the ninth of ten children born to Newton Frank and Anna Ellen (James) Potter. Leslie was baptized at the First Christian Church, Alma, Nebraska. He received his education from the Alma (NE.) Public Schools, graduating from Alma (NE.) High School with the class of 1939. Leslie then pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where he studied Agriculture. Following his education, Leslie operated a dairy with his brother, Raymond southeast of Alma, Nebraska from 1941 until 1952. On August 11, 1946, Leslie was united in marriage to Ruth Elaine Middagh at the Alma (NE.) Congregational Evangelical Free Church by the Reverend Marion S. Hoffsommer. To this union four children were born: William Daniel, Shirley Rae, Linda Sue and Barbara Jean. Leslie and Ruth began to make their home one mile southeast of Alma, Nebraska until 1952, when they relocated to a farm southwest of Bloomington, Nebraska, where they engaged in farming and raising livestock in Franklin County, Nebraska until their retirement in 1987. Following retirement, Leslie and Ruth stayed on the farm, where they resided the remainder of their married life. The couple celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary this past August. Leslie was a devoted member of the Naponee (NE.) Wesleyan Church, where he served on the Church Board, taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. He was also active in the communities serving on the Turkey Creek (NE.) Township Board, the Franklin County (NE.) Extension Board, and past member of the Alma (NE.) Co-op Oil Governing Board. His hobbies included gardening, his orchard and all animals and most of all he loved the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leslie was preceded in death by: parents; brothers, Raymond and his wife, Arlene, Leslie's twin brother, Wesley, and Russell and his first wife, Lillian and his second wife, Ruth; sisters, Helen and Alice Potter in early childhood, Gladys Meyers and her husband, Lester, Florence Ogden and her husband, Leonard, Dorothy Miller and her husband, Harry, and Wilma Faeh and her husband, Delmond. Leslie leaves to mourn his passing; wife, Ruth E. Potter of Franklin, Nebraska; son, William "Bill" Potter and his wife, Eunice of Kearney, Nebraska; daughters, Shirley Brown and her husband, Wayne of Topeka, Kansas, Linda Potter of Waxhaw, North Carolina, and Barbara Stewart and her husband, Reverend Rob Stewart of Clay Center, Kansas; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Celebration of Life Service for Leslie E. Potter was conducted from the Wesleyan Church, Naponee, Nebraska on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverends Rob Stewart and Scott Randall officiating. Interment was in the Alma Cemetery, Alma, Nebraska.
