Description	:	Leslie Gerald Harms was born August 31, 1922 in Valentine, Nebraska, the 12th of 13 children, and died November 1, 2006. His parents were John Ouchton and Emma Vogel Harms. After graduating from Valentine high school he attended a sheet metal school in Lincoln before going to Buffalo, New York to work at Bell Aircraft and later was transferred to Omaha, Nebraska. After his marriage to Ruth E. Johnson June 30, 1942, Leslie enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He received his Bombardier Wings and then took pilot training. When the war was over... Read More	Leslie Gerald Harms was born August 31, 1922 in Valentine, Nebraska, the 12th of 13 children, and died November 1, 2006. His parents were John Ouchton and Emma Vogel Harms. After graduating from Valentine high school he attended a sheet metal school in Lincoln before going to Buffalo, New York to work at Bell Aircraft and later was transferred to Omaha, Nebraska. After his marriage to Ruth E. Johnson June 30, 1942, Leslie enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He received his Bombardier Wings and then took pilot training. When the war was over he came back to the family ranch where he lived years before retiring and moving into Valentine. He then bought a small farm North of Valentine and raised calves for a few years. Retired again and soon took a job as Cherry County Weed Superintendent. Leslie received a 60-year certificate for continuous membership from the American Legion and a pin for fifty years of service as a Master Mason. He was also a member of Sesostris Shrine Club. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cribbage, bridge and especially woodworking, making things for family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Donald and Harold and nine sisters, Alberta Bennett, Grace McLeod, Marie Clarke, Helen Schaefer, Dorothy Flynn, Doris Ayers, Lois Van Metre, Ruth Appleget, and Maxine Daniels. Survivors are his wife, Ruth, and three sons, Tom and his wife, Carolyn; Jerry and his wife Sandy; and K C and his wife Bonnie; four gransons, Thad, Brad, Cory and Kyle and four great grandchildren, Tyler, Abby, Jutin and Shane, and one sister, Betty Ormesher.
