Description	:	Leslie Howard Stepnenson was born to Zadok Campbell Stephenson and Elva Della Sweet Stephenson on Sept. 28, 1914, near Fairmont and passed away Sept. 10, 1994, at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 13 days. He was the oldest of five children in the family. Leslie attended country school at School District No. 85, and graduated from Fairmont High School in 1931. He was a lifelong resident of Fillmore County, living his entire life southeast of Fairmont. His whole life was dedicated to farming, until failing health prevented him from active participation the last few months of his life. He took great pride in his family, especially his six grandchildren and their interests and varied talents. Dad was always there to give advice and guidance when asked, in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was married to Elsie E. Osborn of Benkelman on March 1, 1941, and to them three children were born. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991. Leslie was a member of the Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was a member of the Geneva Untied Methodist Church at the time of his death. He was also a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 42 in Fairmont for 50 years, having joined April 28, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zadok and Eva Stephenson. He is survived by his wife, Elsie; daughter, Barbar Jean (Milton) Leefers of Unadilla; sons, Lowell of Fairmont, James and wife Janet of Fairmont; six grandchildren, Chad Leefers of Lincoln, Doyle Leefers of Unadilla, Loren, Caroline and Cassandra Stephenson of Fairmont and Teresa Stephenson of Hutchinson, Kan.; daughter-in-law, Barbara Lynn Stepneson of Geneva; sisters, Darlen Hafer of Geneva and Jean Whitemore of McCool Junction; brothers, Robert Stephenson of Fairmont and John Stephenson of Glenwood Springs, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted from the United Methodist Church in Geneva on Tuesday Sept. 13, with the Rev. Charles W. Leypoldt officiating. Susan Kleinschmidt accompanied Delwin Myers, who sang "Rock of Ages" "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer." Casket bearers were Melvin Ackerman, Richard Arbuck, Joseph Galaway, Dick Manning, Albert Simacek and Paul Underwood. Honorary casket bearers were members of the I.O.O.F. Lodge.
