Description	:	Following an illness of one year duration, Lester G. Goeman, a near lifelong resident of the Lennox community, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 22, in Sioux Valley hospital. He was hospitalized several times and had undergone surgery. He attained the age of 59 years, nine months and 26 days. Lester G. Goeman, a near lifelong resident of the Lennox community, passed away Tuesday evening, Dec. 22, in Sioux Valley hospital. He was hospitalized several times and had undergone surgery. He attained the age of 59 years, nine months and 26 days. Lester G. Goeman was born on a farm near Wilmot, SD on Feb. 26, 1928, the son of George J. and Grace (Kuper) Goeman. In 1933 the family moved to the Lennox area and her he attended school and grew to manhood. He served in the US Army in 1951. On Apr. 8, 1951, he was united in marriage to Norma Groen at Lennox. The couple located on a farm south of Lennox and there farmed for a few years. He attended auctioneering school at Mason City, IA in 1958. In 1964 took up their residence in Lennox and here he began a full time business as Goeman Auction Service. He was an active and faithful member of the Second Reformed church, having served as an elder for three years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for 19 years; a charter member of the S.D. Auctioneers Association, having served as president in 1976; a director of Dakota Co-op Telecommunications, Inc. for the past 16 years; and a member of Burtus-Jurgens American Legion Post No. 283 in Chancellor. Deceased is survived by his widow; two sons, Jeff Goeman of Lennox and James Goeman at home; three daughters, Christy of Walnut Creek, CA., Robin and Lisa Goeman, both of Sioux Falls; two granddaughters, Erin and Sarah Goeman; three brothers, Ernest Goeman and Floyd Goeman, both of Lennox, and Harvey D. Goeman of Sioux Falls; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John W. and Byrdell Goeman of Lennox; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
