Read More	Lester "Les" Hubert Fredericks, 64, passed away of a massive heart attack on October 21, 2007 while on his annual elk hunting trip with his two good friends. He died in the Montana mountains where he felt close to nature and he could see the wide open sky. Les was born June 13, 1943 to Hubert and Lydia (Heit) Fredericks in Livingston, Montana. He lived around the Livingston area until he moved with his family at eight years old to Harrison, Idaho, where he completed his schooling years. He married Hilda Boe on February 12, 1965 in Big Timber, Montana. Following their marriage, the young couple lived in St. Maries, Idaho. On March 11, 1966 they were blessed with the birth of their twins, Kimberly Jay and Kenneth Ray. The young family moved back to Montana (Billings, Bridger, Columbus), and then settled in Big Timber working on a ranch for Dudley and Alice Tyler. On June 25, 1970 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Lorie Jo. In 1973 Les went to work for the railroad where he worked until he was hurt in 1988. He later started his business, Les's Auto Body Shop, where he could work at his own pace until his death. Les loved playing with his bands and dancing with his wife, Hilda. Les also enjoyed golfing, hunting and meeting his coffee buddies at the coffee shop. He had a special knack for telling jokes. He never forgot an old joke and he always had a new one to share! He loved living in the country where he could enjoy his cows and dogs, Sam and Sadie. Les was very proud of his grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. He was so proud to be able to help fix up pickups for his two oldest grandsons! He loved teaching each of his grandkids to sing and play the guitar, to drive, to hunt and to fish. He continually convinced each of them that they could do anything if they put their hearts and minds to it and worked hard enough. Les loved the laughs he got from the shocked looks on his grandkids' faces when they realized he was missing his left thumb. He got every one of them with that joke. He loved his family very much and they will have that love in their hearts to remind them of him always. Lester was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Melvin, and his nephew Steve. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Hilda; daughter Kim Fredericks Pierson, Salmon, ID, son Ken Fredericks, Billings MT and daughter and son-in-law Lorie (Art) Walsh, Castle Rock, WA; grandchildren Korinda and Bryce Pierson, Beau, Jess and Delaney Fredericks, and Riley Walsh; sister Bernice Boe, and brothers Jack (Pam) Fredericks and Carl (Saundra) Fredericks; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Les did not know a stranger and his spirit will live on in each of those he touched. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday October 25, 2007 at the Big Timber Lutheran Church with interment following at Mountain View Cemetery. The family suggests memorials for Les Fredericks be sent to the Steele Memorial Medical Center, P.O. Box 752, Salmon, ID 83467, Attn: Kim Pierson, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements were by Stenberg Funeral Home.
