Visitation will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., and 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, at Sheets & Sons Funeral Home in Tipton, and 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 3, at Rochester United Methodist Church in Rochester. Burial will be in Pee Dee Cemetery in Springdale, Iowa. Lester Lyle Linn was born January 18, 1921, in Cedar County, the son of Earl and Clara (Stiff) Linn. He graduated from Springdale High School in 1938. He attended Iowa State University for two years. He enlisted in the Army and served from 1942 to 1945 in both France and Germany. He married Betty Ina Dumenil on June 16, 1946, in Argyle. They farmed near Rochester. Surviving are his wife, Betty; two daughters, Bonnie Denman of Wheaton, MD, and Shirley Linn of Charlotte, NC; one son, Harold LInn of Tipton; three grandchildren; one sister, Ione (Howard) Nielsen of Cape Coral, FL; and two brothers, Marvin (Beverly) Linn of Rock Island, IL, and Rev. Eugene (Josephine) Linn of Linn Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joyce and one sister-in-law, Nancy Linn. Cedar Rapids Gazette, Sep 1, 1987
