Funeral services were laid at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. H.J. Sterling. Burial was made in the Cherokee cemetery, and the Rebekah lodge conducted the services at the grave. Lettie Ellen Smith was born at Braymer, Mo., July 8th, 1882, and died September 28, 1928 at the age of 46 years, 2 months and 20 days. At an early age she joined the Baptist Church, but on coming to Cherokee, as there was no church of her choice, she joined the Methodist Church and lived a Christian life, and all through her suffering, she patiently waited for the call of her Master to take her home to live with Him. She was married to William Young Jan. 1, 1903, and to this union were born three children, Mrs. Ella Caresio, Jesse and Ina Young. Mr. Young died in October, 1920, and on Feb. 3, 1924, she married Mr. Frank Montee. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, three children and two grandchildren, Billy Joe and Catherine Caresio; three brothers, George and Warren Smith of Braymer, Mo.; Ben Smith, of Norborne, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Mathis of Cherokee besides a host of friends.
