Description	:	Obituary Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, December 24, at the Schroeder Funeral Chapel for Lewis Bly, 88, longtime Akron resident who passed away at the Akron hospital on Sunday, December 22, following a long illness. Mr. Bly was born at Le Mars, Iowa, December 3, 1880, and moved to Akron as a child. On February 11, 1903, he was united in marriage with Helma Olson in Union county, South Dakota. He spent most of his life farming, but also engaged in the hardware furniture and implement business and also operated a Standard Oil tank wagon... Read More	Obituary Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, December 24, at the Schroeder Funeral Chapel for Lewis Bly, 88, longtime Akron resident who passed away at the Akron hospital on Sunday, December 22, following a long illness. Mr. Bly was born at Le Mars, Iowa, December 3, 1880, and moved to Akron as a child. On February 11, 1903, he was united in marriage with Helma Olson in Union county, South Dakota. He spent most of his life farming, but also engaged in the hardware furniture and implement business and also operated a Standard Oil tank wagon service in Akron for a number of years. He also served as manager of the Farmers Co-operative grain elevator here. He was a former township clerk, an AAA and ASC committeeman. He was a member of Freedom Lodge, No. 434, A. F. & A. M. He was preceded in death by his wife on November 19, 1954. Survivors are his daughter, Mrs. Ray Wilhelmi of North Fort Myers, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Edith Philips of Outlook, Washington, and a stepsister, Mrs. Kate Emmert of Coronation, Alberta, Canada. Rev. Michael Strom officiated at the funeral services at the Schroeder Funeral Chapel. Mrs. Hugh Swift, vocalist, sang “In The Garden” and “Lead, Kindly Light,” with Stan Swanson as accompanist. Casket bearers were Walter Young, Herb Swanson, Arnold Klemme, Ellis Tucker, Albert Beeck, and Lyle F. Jacobs. Interment was in Riverside cemetery, where Masonic graveside rites were exemplified by members of Freedom Lodge. Akron Register Tribune Thursday, January 9, 1969 Akron, Iowa
