Born in Jefferson, Me. on December 8, 1928 the son of the late Clifton and Violetta Hallowell Jones. Lewis attended local schools and was a graduate of Union High School with the Class of 1947. Read More	Lewis Carlton Jones, Sr., 85, passed away at his home in Jefferson on Saturday January 11, 2014. Born in Jefferson, Me. on December 8, 1928 the son of the late Clifton and Violetta Hallowell Jones. Lewis attended local schools and was a graduate of Union High School with the Class of 1947. After completing high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he bravely served our country during World War II and Korean War. Lewis married the love of his life Patricia Comer on October 18, 1948. They had known each other as children and after returning from his military service the couple settled on the mountain road in Jefferson where they would raise their 11 children on Half Acre Farm. A full functioning farm they were self sufficient and anything that they would need they could get from their farm. While overseeing the farm Lewis also worked for the state of Maine and retired in 1983 as a bridge supervisor for the Maine DOT. Lewis loved country music and even played guitar and sang in a local band. Patricia and Lewis loved to travel would chronicle their journeys in journals and pictures so they could remember the places that they had seen. Covering almost the entire United States there were only four states that they did not visit, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, and Oregon. Lewis loved models and had an extensive collection that he proudly displayed at his home. He loved to use this paint ball gun, getting the girls to try to hit certain items which at times were too small to hit. He got a lot of laughter from this and told them at least they could hit the large shed. Lewis loved to tell stories of growing up, being in the military and his favorite were the stories of working for the state. Lewis traveled through his altlases with the girls. He couldn't always get out but could go anywhere in the United States right from the kitchen table. Lewis loved to reminisce with his best friend and buddy Walt Coombs as well. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years Patricia Jones, passing in April 1999, just a few months after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Sons Darrell, Lewis Jr, Richard, and Gary Jones, Grandson Robbie Flint. Survivors include his children Terry Wilshire and her husband Rick of Warren, ME, Arlene Jones and her Companion JR Winchenbach of Waldoboro, ME, Paullette Skidgell and her husband Sandy of Sebring, FL, Donald Jones and his wife Roberta of Cape Cod, MA, Marilyn Sewell and her husband Bruce of Warren, ME, Cheryl Reynolds of Wilmington, MA, Gail Dinkins of Gainesville, TN, 18 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great Great Grandchildren. Special Friends Danny and Derek Briylea, Beanie Holmes, Jr & Teri Peaslee. His buddy, best friend and partner in crime Walter and Phyllis Coombs. A time of visitation will be held on Friday January 17, 2014 from 5 to 7 in the evening at Hall Funeral Home 949 Main St Waldoboro, ME. A celebration of life will be held at 11am on Saturday January 18, 2014 at Hall Funeral Home 949 Main St, Waldoboro, ME with Rev. Robin Honaker officiating. A private burial will take place in the spring.
