Funeral service was Friday, January 31, at First United Methodist Church in Huron with burial at Earlville Cemetery, rural Wessington Springs. Lila Kludt was born Lila Mae Teveldal, daughter of Peder and Ida (Pederson) Teveldal, was born on October 2, 1939, in Alpena, SD. She was the youngest of 10 children. Lila grew up around the Alpena area and attended Alpena School through the 8th grade. Lila met the love of her life, Max "Doc" Kludt at a dance in 1956 and they were married on February 17, 1957, in Alpena, SD. Their little nest was soon filled with the births of their children: Mike, Mark, Jody, and Jolynn. Lila spent her life doing whatever she could to make sure their home was filled with love and happiness. Family get-togethers were very important to Lila. This began at an early age when she and her siblings would make a point to get together on Sundays for dinner, card games, and special holiday gatherings. She continued this tradition with her own family and there were many get-togethers, even if grandkids were stacked like sardines on the floor. The highlight of every summer for the past twenty years has been the Ida Army camping weekends. Family was everything to Lila. She was so happy when she became a grandma. Lila made sure that, as each grandchild arrived, they felt that they were special in their own way. She loved when they would entertain her with singing and or their crazy little antics. In 2010, she became a great-grandmother to Easton and 2 years later to Brody. Lila and Doc lived in Huron for their entire marriage until 2011 when they moved to Watertown to be closer to their sons. Lila held many jobs over her lifetime. She spent many years doing factory work at Raven Industries and Swift Packing Plant. Lila did whatever was needed to help support her family. She spent many years as the cook for the Lutheran Dining Hall at the South Dakota State Fair. Lila found her real passion in the later years of her life when she began doing Home Health Care. She loved doing this work and was compassionate and emotionally strong as she helped these people make their transitions in life. Lila was a good person. She loved visiting, playing cards, and having an evening cocktail with Doc or anyone who dropped in. Lila began golfing in her later years and she and Doc found a new way to be with family and friends. Many times they would drive to Wessington Springs to golf with her siblings. For the past 10 years, Lila and her girls would take an annual girl's trip. In 2004, Lila had the opportunity to travel to Norway with 13 other family members to visit relatives and to see the place where her dad was raised. It was the trip of a lifetime. Lila was a member of First United Methodist Church; American Legion William Reaves Post #7 Auxiliary; and the Red Hat Society. "The thing that Lila will be remembered most for is her role as wife, mother, and grandmother. She was our rock and we will miss her more than we can even begin to imagine." Lila is survived by her husband, Doc of Watertown; 4 children, Mike (Doreen) Kludt of Watertown, Mark (Julie) Kludt of Watertown, Jody (Pat) Kludt of Mobridge, and Jolynn (Dan) Foley of Sioux Falls; 9 grandchildren, Lee (Jennifer) Kludt, Alex Kludt, Logan Kludt, Mikayla Kludt, Mallory (Ryan) Fitts, Maren (Colin) Paulsen, Macy Kludt, Samantha Foley, and Nick Foley; 2 great-grandsons, Easton Kludt and Brody Kludt; 2 brothers, Ole (Liz) Teveldal of Wessington Springs, and Ivan Teveldal of Tulare; 2 sisters, Leona (Russell) Hanson of Sioux Falls, and Delores Schaffer of Huron; 4 sisters-in-law, Laura Jones of Huron, Gladys (Ziek) Noack of Mitchell, Luella Teveldal of Wessington Springs, and Agnes Teveldal of Huron; 2 brothers-in-law, Leo Koerner of Alpena and Robert Kludt of California; many nieces and nephews; the entire Ida's Army; extended family in Norway; and all of her many friends. Lila was preceded in death by her parents, Peder and Ida Teveldal; 2 brothers, Lloyd Teveldal and Leonard Teveldal; 3 sisters, Pearl Krog, Edna Brandenburg, and Verna Koerner; 3 brothers-in-law, Harold Brandenburg, Allen Schaffer, and Dick Krog; 1 sister-in-law, Glenda Teveldal; 2 nieces, Arla Brenneman and Dawn Woodward; and 1 nephew, Timmy Koerner. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Brenda # 47543706 provided link to spouse. ~ 4-30-2019
