Read More	HRUBESKY, LILLIAN MAY—Lillian May Hrubesky, daughter of Chauncey and Ann Rohann Hrubesky, was born November 4, 1880, in Schuyler, Neb. She passed away April 24, 1977, in Geneva, Neb., at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 20 days. The Hrubesky family moved to Geneva in 1898. She graduated from Geneva high school in 1899, having received the first drama award ever to be presented at the school. She continued her education at the University of Nebraska, where she graduated in 1908, with a major in English and German. Following her graduation, she taught the next 13 years in her home state—Harvard, Geneva and Nebraska City. In 1922, she moved to Los Angeles, Cal., where she studied library science. Upon completing her study, she became head of the library department at John Adams junior high school, where she stayed until her retirement in 1945. Upon her retirement, she continued to reside in California until 1962, at which time she returned to Nebraska. In 1964, after spending a short time in Omaha, she returned to Geneva, where she was able to enjoy her family and friends for several years before her health began to fail. During her lifetime, she enjoyed many intellectual pursuits. She studied and traveled extensively, collecting many art and literary treasures. Throughout the years, however, her greatest enjoyment was that which had become the Hrubesky tradition, her family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her sisters, Lucile and Ida; and her brothers, Chauncey and Frank. She is survived by her nieces, Mrs. Donald Saathoff of Columbus, O., Mrs. Dan Roberts of Wichita, Kas, and Mrs. Robert Simon of Denver col; five grandnephews and four grand nieces. Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son funeral home in Geneva at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, with Rev. Neil L. Kettering presiding. Mrs. Norval Lomax, organist provided music. Pallbearers were John R. Bixby, Vaughn C. Fulton, Joseph Bixby, Herman Larsen, Chester Dudley and Hugh Wilkins. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 5 May 1977 page 6.
