Read More	1944, Thursday August 10, The Almonte Gazette page 8 Mrs Raymond Layle Many friends of relatives were deeply shocked at the sudden passing away at Stamford, Conn, on Wednesday, July 26, 1944, of Lillian Muriel Barrowclough, beloved wife of Mr Raymond Layle of Stamford, and eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred Barrowclough of Almonte. Mrs Layle was born and educated at Almonte and in 1925 entered the Stamford General Hospital and from there, in 1928, graduated as a Reg. Nurse. Since then she had practised her profession in that city. In June, 1942, she was married to Mr Raymond Layle of Stamford, son of Mr John Layle and the late Mrs Layle. Mrs Layle was known a loved by many in both Stamford and Almonte and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. After service in Stamford conducted by the Rev Leslie Wood, the body was conveyed to Almonte for burial. The service was held on Saturday, July 29th, from the home of her parents and was conducted by the Rev Wm Aird of the Baptist Church. Interment was in the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Many beautiful floral tributes were received, testifying to the high esteem of the deceased. The pallbearers were two brothers of the deceased: David and Laurence Barrowclough, also Messrs Bert and Graham Simpson, Wm Blakeley and Ernest Adams. Mrs Layle leaves to mourn her loss her husband of Stamford, her parents of Almonte; two sisters Ruth of Hamilton; Helen of Ottawa; and two brothers, David of Richmond, Que and Laurence of Hamilton.
