Read More	HOFFERBER, LILLIE ANN—Lillie Ann Hofferber was born to Jon William Horst and Marie Ross on January 2, 1931, at home in Oak and passed away on October 5, 2008, at the Bryan/LGH West Hospital in Lincoln at the age of 77 years, nine months and three days. She was one of ten children in the family. Lillie was baptized at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Ruskin and was a member of the United Methodist church in Geneva. She attended elementary school at Oak and graduated from high school in Nelson in 1948. After high school, Lillie attended beauty school and became a licensed cosmetologist. She married Donald William Hofferber on June 15, 1952, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Ruskin and to them two children were born, Thomas William and Patricia Marie. The couple set up residence north of the family farm where they lived until 1977, when they built their new home south of the home place where she still continued to live. Lillie was a typical farm wife. She took care of their home, children and helped Don with whatever was needed. She enjoyed being an active member of the church where she was a member of the Sarah Circle. Lillie also enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She was on the Fillmore County Election Board, and volunteered at the elementary school in Geneva with the Money Magic Club. Lillie enjoyed any and all sports. She was a longtime fan of Nebraska sports and loved going to football games. She took up knitting after Don’s death and made several blankets for her family. She took great pride in her home and looked forward to spring when she could plant her garden and take care of the lawn. Lillie enjoyed traveling and golfing with Don and after his passing, she continued her joy of traveling with her brothers and sisters. She also enjoyed attending many family reunions. Lillie was a loving and thoughtful wife, mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma and friend. Family was her main priority. The time she was able to spend with her children, granddaughters, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and other family and friends always meant a lot to her. Lillie is preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Horst; husband, Donald William; son, Thomas William; sister, Evalin Hinz; and brothers, Fritz, Bob and John Horst. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Andrews and husband, Brett and their daughters, Heather and Keela; sisters, Verna Brant and husband Les, Vera Schriever and husband, Myron, Lila Honeycutt and husband, Gary, Norma Walker and Donna Genung and husband Russ; daughter-in-law, Melinda Hofferber and her daughter, Lisa Smith and her husband David and their children; and sisters-in-law, Lana Horst and Phyllis Horst. Services were conducted from the Geneva United Methodist Church on October 9, with Pastor Ron Harris officiating. Judy Ackland accompanied the congregation in the singing of “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art. Pallbearers included Steve Seward, Bill Timmermans, Don R. Miller, Roger Pittard, Harold Moravec and Jim Lovegrove. Interment was held in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal October 15th, 2008 page 6. Survivors: daughter, Pat Andrews, Burwell, Neb.; sisters, Verna Brandt, Friend, Neb.; Donna Genung, Deshler; Lila Honeycutt, Haven, Kan.; Norma Walker, Winfield, Ala.; Vera Schriever, Weslaco, Texas; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren. Funeral Services 10:30 a.m. Thursday (10/9/08) at the United Methodist Church, Geneva. Burial: Geneva Public Cemetery. Visitation 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday (10/8/08) at Farmer & Son Funeral Home, Geneva. Memorials are directed to the United Methodist Church. Farmer & Son Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
