John Holland, Minister of the Gospel, performed the ceremony. Obituary. Mrs. Lillie Dale Cleek, wife of J. L. Cleek, died at her home near Walkersvllle, Shelby County, Mo., Saturday Nov. 30, 1901 after a short illness of typhoid fever. Mrs. Cleek was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Dale. She was born Aug. 17, 1868 in Shelby Co. Mo where she spent her entire life. She was married to J. L. Cleek about eleven years ago, and to this union was born one child, a sweet little boy who is now nearly nine years old. Mrs. Cleek was led to accept Jesus under the preaching of Bro. White at Sbelbina, Mo., at which time she united with the M. E. Church, South and lived an earnest, humble christian life, until her Master called her from this world of sorrow to that city of which it is said, "There'll be no sorrow there." In her christian life she was faithful and loyal in her devotion and service to her Savior, entreating those around her during the last hours of her sickness, to meet her in heaven, saying she was not afraid to die for she would awake to be "Oh! so happy with her Savior." As a friend and neighbor, Lillie was gentle, kind and sympathetic. As a wife and mother she was faithful and devoted, ever ready to help and encourage. Taken in the early morning of life, as we count time this side of the river of death. But now, for her, the great dial stands still for ever. In that realm of infinite duration, years are such pitiful space, they are not worth counting. Her untrammeled spirit loosed from its earth moorings has solved the great mystery and is now at Home with her Savior. Mrs. Cleek leaves a husband, one son, a widowed mother, one brother and three sisters, a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her departure from this life. Funeral services were held at Bacon Chapel on the afternoon of Dec. 1st. conducted by her pastor, Rev. Wimberly, who preached a most Impressive and appropriate sermon from the text, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." St. John 10:10; after which all that was mortal of Lillie Dale Cleek was tenderly laid to rest. " A precious soul from us is gone, A voice we loved is still, A place is vacant in their home. Which never can be filled. We love her, yes, we love her, But angels love her more; And they have sweetly called her To yonder shining shore. The golden gate was open, A farewell voice said come, And with calm words unspoken. She gently entered home. How sadly we do miss you, No human tongue can tell. In heaven we hope to meet her, Where God doeth all things well."
