Description	:	HELTON, LILLIE—Lillie Helton was born on January 22, 1908, to Clenward and Carrie (Kinnamon) Hickmon in McCool Junction. She passed away September 7, 1992, at Long Term Care, Geneva, at the age of 84 years, 7 months and 16 days. She was one of 12 children in her family. Lillie graduated from the eighth grade in Fairmont. She then spent her time caring for her smaller sisters and brothers. She also worked in other homes caring for the families and small children. Lillie married Harry Helton of Geneva on October 3, 1925. To this union three children were born, Richard, Doris and Donald. Harry and Lillie celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1975. Harry passed away in 1980. Lillie was a homemaker, taking care of her children and raising a large garden and many flowers. She enjoyed embroidering and has many lovely things to pass on to her children and grandchildren. For relaxation, Lillie loved to play cards and the game of Scrabble. In her later years she spent many hours at the Geneva Senior Center. She enjoyed playing in the band and joined in all activities. She enjoyed belonging to the South Madison Extension Club. When at family gatherings she loved to spend her time around the piano or organ singing all the old time favorites and many hymns. She was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Harry; son Richard; four brothers, Ralph, Daniel, Roy and Chester; five sisters, Hazel Couch, Bertha Lusk, Ellen Thompson, Beulah Lydick and Viola Lutz. She is survived by son, Donald; and daughter, Doris Moravec, thirteen grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on September 10, from the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Stanly Rider officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied the congregation in singing “In the Garden” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Pallbearers were John Bates, Richard Fixemer, Joe Moravec, Ralph Mossman, Evan Schnegelberger and Ivan Volkmer. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal September 17th, 1992 page 6.
