Description	:	Lititia Edna Geary, 88, of Elk Point, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Lititia was born June 10, 1928 in rural Jefferson, S.D. to Leo and Edna (Quintal) Chicoine. Lititia moved to rural Elk Point as child with her family, attended country school and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1946. She married the love of her life, James F. Read More	Lititia Edna Geary, 88, of Elk Point, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa. Lititia was born June 10, 1928 in rural Jefferson, S.D. to Leo and Edna (Quintal) Chicoine. Lititia moved to rural Elk Point as child with her family, attended country school and graduated from Elk Point High School in 1946. She married the love of her life, James F. Geary, Sr. on November 13, 1950 in Elk Point. To this union, ten children were born; William, Nancy, Douglas, James Jr., Robert, David, Linda, Patrick, Steven, and Roger. The couple made their home in rural Elk Point. Besides raising her children, Lititia also worked outside the home. After Jim taught her to drive, she drove herself to her jobs in Elk Point as a waitress, to Sioux City to the turkey plant, and then to John Morrell where she worked as a government meat inspector, retiring in 1993 Lititia was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elk Point and belonged to the Altar Society. She was a 4-H leader for many years when her children participated in 4-H. Lititia could always be found in the kitchen baking and canning. In her spare time, Lititia went out dancing with family and friends as well as crocheted over 100 Afghans that she gave to family and friends. Lititia also had a "green thumb" that allowed her home to be filled with numerous plants and flowers. Lititia had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. Survivors include her 8 children; Nancy Learned of Des Moines, IA, James Jr., (Ellie) Geary, Robert (Theresa) Geary, David (Linda) Geary all of Elk Point, SD, Linda (Michael) Baird of Moville, IA, Patrick Geary of Tucson, AZ, Steven (Helene) Geary, of Goose Creek, SC, and Roger (Shirley) Geary of Elk Point; 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law- Dorothy Geary; her brother-in-law, Eugene Geary; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sr.; two sons, William and Douglas Geary; her paternal and maternal parents; her son-in-law, Eugene Learned; her sister and brother-in-law, Rosella and Harold Hinds; and her brother and sister-in-law, Marvin and Kathy Chicoine.
