STERLING DIED SATURDAY PROMINENT FARMER WAS BURIED TUESDAY Mr. Littleton Willis Sterling, one of the best known and most prominent farmers of this section, who resided on the Johnson Creek Road, died in the McCready Hospital Saturday evening, after a prolonged illness, at the age of 85 years. He was the son of the late Littleton W. and Sarah E. Sterling, who were members of pioneer families of old Somerset county. Mr. Sterling was an honest and industrious man who gave his time and attention to his farm work, and was very successful in his endeavors. He was a man of fine principles and might have been termed old fashioned in his views. Neighbors and friends held him in esteem and regard. He had great pride in his family of fine daughters and sons, and in his home and farm, where his activities were centered before he retired in 1940. He reposed at the Covington Funeral Home until 2.00 p.m. Tuesday, where funeral services were conducted by Rev. Robert E. Green, pastor of Asbury Methodist Church. Interment was in Asbury cemetery. Mr. Sterling is survived by his widow, Mrs. Letitia M. Sterling, four daughters, Mrs. Elsie L. Pruitt, Mrs. Maude S. Justice, and Mrs. Jane McDorman of this city, and Mrs. Doris E. Dean of Syracuse, N.Y., two sons, Carl Sterling and Willis Sterling, a step-daughter, Mrs. Olive Christy, and a foster son, Mr. Ellsworth L. Hickman, all of Crisfield.
