Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Mrs. Taggart was born August 21, 1909 in Hawarden, the daughter of Charles H. and Anna (Cowen) Sedgwick. She graduated from the Hawarden high school in 1928 and from Drake University in 1930 after a two year course in primary education. She taught school in Pilot Mound, Iowa for 2 years and then Hawarden for 4 years. She married Palmer Robert Taggart on July 23, 1934 at St Charles, MO. Palmer died on November 26, 1956. Lois attained a B.S. Degree in Education from Kansas State College in Pittsburg, KS in 1959. She taught school in Kansas City, KS for 5 years. She returned to Hawarden in 1960 and taught 3rd grade for 14 years before retirement. She was a member of the Hawarden United Methodist Church, Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Kappa delta Pi Honorary Educational Society, Hawarden Senior Citizens and the NEA. Survivors include a son, Thomas M. Taggart and wife Mary Ann of Columbus, OH; daughter, Nancy Allette McArthur of Prairie Village, KS; sister, Helen Akin of Hawarden; 5 grandchildren, Shawn McArthur of Oak Park, IL, Kelly McArthur of Leawood, KS, Julia Allette McArthur of Overland Park, KS, Thomas Taggart, JR and Theodore Taggart both of Columbus.
