She died Monday, Aug. 23, 1993, in her home following an extended illness. Mrs. Bultema was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Chico to Harold and Hilda Nelson. She attended Richvale Elementary and Biggs High School and graduated from Statton Beauty College in Chico. On May 17, 1941, she married Johnnie Bultema. The couple resided in Richvale, where they were rice farmers. Mrs. Bultema enjoyed traveling and reading, and was active in the Richvale Evangelical Free Church women's Ministries. She is survived by her husband, John of Richvale, a son, Ray of Richvale; four daughters, Cheryl Needham of Fullerton, Phyllis Atchison of Chico; Barbara Engle of Fair Oaks and Jill Hayes of Elk Grove; two sisters, Lorene Bjorklund of Richvale and her twin sister, Doris Peterson of Durham; and 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A graveside service will precede the church service at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico. Memorial contributions may be made to the Richvale Evangelical Free Church Memorial or Missionary fund, and/or Enloe Hospice, in care of Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home, which is handling arrangements.
