Interment followed in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege. Lois Eugenia Rydlund, 82 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Lois was born August 15, 1932 in Holdrege, the second of five children born to Carl Emanuel and Millie Belle (Schroder) Olson. She received her education and graduated from Holdrege High School, with the class of 1949. On June 24, 1951 she was united in marriage to George W. “Bill” Rydlund at the Presbyterian Church in Holdrege. Lois and Bill adopted and raised a son, Kelly and daughter, Lisa. The family made their home in Holdrege, where Lois focused her efforts on raising their children. Lois worked as a secretary at Lundeen-Isaccson Insurance Agency in Holdrege, retiring in 1998. Lois enjoyed sewing, tending to her rose bushes, attending her Bridge and Canasta Clubs and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lois was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege. On July 7, 2011 she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. Besides her parents and her husband; she was preceded in death by, her brother: Kenneth Olson; and sister, Lucille Soneson. She leaves to celebrate her life, her children: Dr. Kelly Rydlund and Rika Bering of West Linn, Oregon; Lisa Hunke and her husband, Duane of Holdrege; four grandchildren; Andrew Rydlund of West Linn, Oregon, Emily Scism and her husband, C.J. of the Royal Air Force Base Mildenhall in Suffolk, United Kingdom, Austin Schamp and Parker Schamp, both of Ord, Nebraska; three great-grandchild; Peyton, Kayden and Cooper Scism of the Royal Air Force Base Mildenhall in Suffolk, United Kingdom; two step-grandchildren, Megan Hunke of Kearney, Nebraska and Jared Hunke of Holdrege; sisters: Loretta Sturgis and her husband, Dale of Holdrege and Rogene Peterson and her husband, Paul of Bertrand, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Gwen (Olson) Harden; brother-in-law, Gordon Soneson of Holdrege; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson- Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Lois’s honor and kindly suggested to The Child Saving Institute, 4545 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE 68132.
