Description	:	Lois Jean Borgen passed away on July 3, 2012, at her home in Chico, from pancreatic cancer. Lois was born in 1928 in Great Falls, Montana, and moved to Chico when she was 11 years old. Her parents, Herman and Margie Garske owned and operated Garske Ice Cream Store in Chico for many years. Lois graduated from Chico High School in 1946, and graduated from Chico State in 1954, with a degree in Elementary Education. Read More	Lois Jean Borgen passed away on July 3, 2012, at her home in Chico, from pancreatic cancer. Lois was born in 1928 in Great Falls, Montana, and moved to Chico when she was 11 years old. Her parents, Herman and Margie Garske owned and operated Garske Ice Cream Store in Chico for many years. Lois graduated from Chico High School in 1946, and graduated from Chico State in 1954, with a degree in Elementary Education. Lois met Leland Borgen through friends, and they married in 1954 at Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church. After their marriage, they moved to Sacramento, where Lois was an elementary school teacher for 29 years at San Juan School District, and Lee worked for PG&E. Lois and Lee relocated to Chico after an early retirement, and they did extensive traveling. Lois was very active with the Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church and formerly served as a deacon. She volunteered much time to The Discovery Shoppe and enjoyed the many friends she had there. Lois kept in close touch with 13 of her classmates from Chico High School. The group met once monthly for lunch and remained the best of friends. Lois was very involved in her neighborhood homeowner's association. Lois is survived by her husband, Leland; sister, Betty Biddle from Oceanside, CA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Margie Garske; sister, Verle Antonich; and brother, Bill Garske. Private funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to The Discovery Shoppe or Bidwell Memorial Presbyterian Church. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on July 7, 2012.
