She graduated from Larson's College (now Quinnipiac University) and went to Yale University (Class of 1940) where she studied Sacred Music (vocal). Rolley NORFOLK -- Lois Jordan Rolley was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Lincoln, Maine, the first of 12 children born to Mary Helen Clay and Charles Jordan. She married William Glenn Rolley of New Haven, Conn., on May 1, 1943, and worked on the editorial staff of the Yale University Press, and for Yale's Department of Anthropology. After living in Atlantic City, N.J., and Rochester, N.Y., they moved to Ithaca, N.Y., where in 1960 Lois was employed by Cornell University's Department of Political Science. After surviving a near fatal car accident that left her partially paralyzed, she moved to Gainesville, Fla., in 1977, where she managed her own china business. She moved with her family to Virginia Beach in 1997. Lois is survived by William Glenn Rolley Sr. of Boca Raton, Fla.; and three of her four children, William Glenn Rolley Jr. and wife Libby of Boise, Idaho, Meredith Phillips Rolley of California, and Page Rolley Hanna of Norfolk; a son, Clay Jordan Rolley predeceased her. She has 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Autumn Hanna VandeHei and husband James of Washington, D.C., Daisy Hanna Schuurman and husband Dale and daughter Lily, Clay Daniel Hanna, Peter Anthony Hanna, Joshua Paul Hanna and William Michael Hanna, all of Norfolk, Ivy Rolley Schiro and husband Garrett and daughter Samantha of San Francisco, Calif., Elyse Jordan Rolley of Boise, Idaho, Danielle Rose Rolley of San Jose, Calif., and Mary Catherine Rolley of Boise, Idaho. She is also survived by two sisters, Eleanor Jordan Worcester and Barbara Jordan Kneeland; and five brothers, Raymond, Arnold, Harold, Richard and Norman Jordan, all of Lincoln, Maine. A lifelong lover of music, sports and bridge, Lois was a passionate optimist, witty conversationalist, loyal friend and devoted mother and grandmother.
