Description	:	LINCOLN - Raymond Carlyle Jordan, 94, passed away Jan. 19, 2011, after a short stay at Penobscot Valley Hospital. He died peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was born Nov. 3, 1916, the oldest son of Charles F. and Helen (Clay) Jordan. After graduating from Hillhouse High School, New Haven, Conn., in 1934, Mr. Jordan worked for Yale Press, New Haven, Conn., and then for the U.S. Census Bureau, Washington, D.C. Read More	LINCOLN - Raymond Carlyle Jordan, 94, passed away Jan. 19, 2011, after a short stay at Penobscot Valley Hospital. He died peacefully with his loving family by his side. He was born Nov. 3, 1916, the oldest son of Charles F. and Helen (Clay) Jordan. After graduating from Hillhouse High School, New Haven, Conn., in 1934, Mr. Jordan worked for Yale Press, New Haven, Conn., and then for the U.S. Census Bureau, Washington, D.C. He served for four years during World War II in an Army band unit stationed in Hawaii. After his discharge, he worked at Lincoln Post Office as a letter carrier until his retirement in 1972. He was an active member of First Congregational Church, serving as a trustee, financial secretary for 48 years, and a member of the choir for 50 years. He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Jean; a daughter, Elaine Brownell and her husband, Bill, of Cape Elizabeth; a son, Robert and his wife, Stacey, of Epping, N.H.; two grandsons and their wives, John and Sarah Brownell of Charlestown, Mass., and Andrew and Liz Brownell of South Boston, Mass.; and two granddaughters, Sophie and Gracia Jordan of Epping, N.H. Surviving siblings are Norman of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Lincoln, Richard and his wife, Laura, also of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Lincoln, Eleanor and her husband, George Worcester, of Lincoln, and Barbara Kneeland of Williston, Vt. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Lois, Phyllis and Betty; and brothers, Arnold, Malcolm, Harold and Charles Harland. Spring interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
